Empathy is the answer
(or at least my answer).
I have spent nearly a decade designing; building identities, animating characters, fabricating typefaces, breaking things, fixing things, you name it. This practice has molded me and through it, I have found that empathy, above all else, is the key to meaningful human connection. This connection results in impactful design. In all its forms, design must find its heart and purpose in the people it serves.
